As all our rooms have direct access outdoors all our children, from the youngest babies to 7 & 8 year olds , enjoy time outdoors.

Both the Sunbeam and Rainbow rooms have covered outdoor areas enabling the children to be outside whatever the weather.

As well as providing the children with space to run, jump and climb Rainbow also has several special outdoor areas:

Sensory Garden
Children love to touch and here is a place to do just that, with a selection of herbs such as lavender, thyme, mint. There are bells to ring, reflections to view and wind chimes to listen to.

Wildlife Area
A Buddleia shrub attracts the butterflies. We also have a small raised water tub and during the summer watch the tadpoles develop legs and turn to frogs. Here logs and tree stumps encourage mini beasts. Long grasses, ferns and wildflowers can also be found.

Vegetable Plot
We grow a selection of vegetables such as cabbages, cauliflower, broccoli and beans. We then eat these with our lunches. Several tomato plants also manage to grow outdoors in a sunny, sheltered spot.

Flower Garden
Young children love to watch things grow, here we plant bulbs and seeds, water them and weed them and watch them grow.
